My name is Ken Kensky. This website is a midterm project for my AAAD 200 course, Introduction to African, African American Diaspora Studies taught by Besi Muhonja. The purpose of this project was to design a semester-long course focusing on a region, period, or an event/occurrence in the experiences of Africana peoples historically or culturally that we were not going to be discussing in class.
About Me
I'm graduating with a degree in Media Arts and Design and a concentration in Creative Advertising. I am also double minoring in Jazz Studies & African, African American and Diaspora studies. I'm the Media Manager for JMU’s oldest LGBTQ+ organization, Madison Equality, and have done web design and social media consulting for local Plato’s Closets & other businesses. I see advertising as a force for change, whether it's to support a worthy cause or help promote a brand. Advertising fosters the growth of ideas, and my future career will be to help spread those ideas around the world.
